  • Congratulations to Missy Cudworth, one of the co-authors of the great foodie blog, Beauties and the Feast. Missy, I hope that this cowl scarf keeps you warm in the Pacific Northwest! Thank you to all that participated in my giveaway. It was so nice to hear from all of you, and I hope that you are able to carve away time for your creative side in 2012. I think it’s an essential part of living a happy life. It’s so easy to get stressed out and discouraged. Having a creative outlet has a way of really simplifying things. I am very excited that several of you would like to get into gardening. Believe it or not, we’re not too far away from planting. In the next few weeks it will be time to start making plans. The most important part is to make it fun and not have it turn into another chore. You don’t even need a designated garden space. Vegetables and herbs can be grown with perennials and also in pots. It really can be as simple as throwing seeds in the dirt. It just has to be nice dirt. We’ll talk more about that in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, enjoy the cold weather and use your free time to open up neglected cookbooks, organize photos, finish a quilt project, take a yoga class, read a fun novel, or bake a loaf of bread. (PS – making bread is really not difficult and is a great exercise in patience. Nothing to fear about a packet of active yeast! I love King Arthur Unbleached Flour above all others and their website is terrific.) Again, thanks for sharing your goals with me and I send you the happiest of New Year’s wishes!
